Gen Con 2016: Day 1

We have never been to Gen Con and, though we obviously knew it would be bigger than Origins (we’ve read the numbers…seen the differences), nothing really prepares you for the craziness that is the first day! We arrived super early! We are staying about 15 minutes away from the convention center but parking was still relatively easy thanks to Gate Ten Event Parking! But when we got to Gen Con…welcome to the con o’ lines. We waited in a long line to get our press badge…and an EXTREMELY long Will Call line just to get our parking pass. Surprisingly…even though the Will Call line spanned the length of the Convention Center…it didn’t take long at all to get through thanks to the workers at the center. Amazing!

We managed to get everything done and make it to opening ceremonies at 9:45, which was really just people talking about stuff until the insane rush of the doors opening. We didn’t manage to get any of the games we were rushing for…they were either sold out before the doors opened (Seafall) or mere seconds after the doors opened (Harry Potter Deckbuilding). As far as Harry Potter is concerned…they have 50 copies each morning…so…the chance of us getting it isn’t very great. Ah well…it’ll come to stores and such. Seafall is just completely sold out. Ah well…more than enough other games to see/discover!

The first day was kind of a blur…crazy amount of people…insane number of booths…just chaos. We picked up some games that we are super excited about…

Beyond Baker Street, Escape the Room, New York 1901, Simon's Cat, Ice Cool, a bunch of Krosmaster minis, Gigamons, Broadsides, and some random other goodies including meeples from Meeple Source.

Now…the first day is over and we are exhausted…and super excited to go back tomorrow!!!
